About

 

EduSilva Association is a Finnish non-profit organization established in 2012. It is located in Joensuu, Finland.

The association aims at advancing awareness, research and knowledge in following subject areas:
• forests, nature and environment
• sustainable development
• bioenergy and renewable energy
• education and training on natural resources
• education and learning methods, educational technology
• development of curricula, guidance and evaluation on higher education
• intercultural understanding


In order to reach its aims, EduSilva Association arranges information intensive events, courses, workshops and other trainings locally, regionally and internationally; and produces both printed and online educational materials for spreading knowledge and information.

2022-2023. AKKE project on Value Chain Innovations as a Driver of Product Development in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Utilising Small-Diameter Wood.

2020. Development challenge offered to the Collaborative Problem Solving course, Karelia University of Applied Sciences. Completed development challenge on “Through nature connection to intercultural equality and understanding” (in Finnish) by Kanninen, Jurvas & Roivas.

2019. Training for officers of Peatland Restoration Agency from Indonesia. This project was managed by the University of Eastern Finland.

2019. Bioenergy programme of the Swedish Energy Agency, focusing on sustainable forestry, and utilization of branches, roots etc. This project was managed by Technopolis Group Sweden.

2019. Summer School in Bioeconomy based Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and Rural Development. 3-month summer course with field visits and field trip offered to Chinese Master’s degree students in forestry in Joensuu, Finland. This project was managed by Karelia University of Applied Sciences.

2019. Data collection on Finnish wood products (such as wood panels, parquet) in collaboration with Northwest Agricultural and Forestry (NWAFU), China.

2014. Barcelona BioEconomy Forum 27.-28.11.2014, Spain. EduSilva Association assisted in the arrangements.

2014. IPCC core-group meeting to finalize the synthesis report for governments for autumn 2014, Koli, Finland. EduSilva Association arranged the practicalities.

2014. IFS MCT Module 2014 in Finland and Russia, 1.6.2014-14.6.2014. EduSilva Association arranged the training for Indian officers.

2013. Indian Forest Service Mid Career Training (IFS MCT), July 2013. EduSilva Association assisted University of Eastern Finland.

2013. Koli Forum, Lieksa, Finland. Project managed by the University of Eastern Finland. EduSilva Association assisted in organizing the conference.
